Conference - Day One, Part Two
We took a break for lunch and, to my surprise, two friends showed up. I met Kok-Lam through my husband, who is a Ph.D. student in Aerospace Engineering at the University at Buffalo. Kok-Lam received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering this past spring from UB and Pei-chien received her masters in school counseling from there as well. Pei-chien is from Southern Taiwan and her boyfriend, Kok-Lam, is from Malaysia. He is visiting her before heading home to his family. Kok-Lam cooked my family a Malaysian dinner just last week in Buffalo. It was a farewell dinner before he left for Asia. It was surreal to be talking with them in Changhua. They had to leave after lunch for their vacation and I was very happy they took the time to stop and see me.
Presentations by Australia and Ireland came after lunch. We had another tea break and then it was our teams turn, followed by Russia.
The kids did great and were asked more questions than any other delegation. As you know, Cliff on Coca-Cola, Jimmitti on Google, and Kayla reported on the iPod. They made City Honors, The Buffalo Public Schools, Buffalo, and the USA proud.
